UCB embraces diversity in all forms, fostering an inclusive and equitable working environment
In our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), UCB Australia:

Recognises and celebrates diversity and inclusion.

Ensures all employees are offered fair opportunities for recruitment, development, advancement, compensation and rewards as per their aspirations.

Creates a more diverse and inclusive workspace.
UCB Australia’s employee DE&I Committee has led a variety of initiatives:
- DE&I benchmark research to explore employee understanding of DE&I.
- Recruitment process redesign to remove unconscious bias and encourage diversity in both external and internal recruitment.
- Training on Welcome to Country and Acknowledgement of Country, along with the provision of resources and templates.
- Recognition and participation in DE&I events, including International Women’s Day, R U OK? day, International LGBTIQ+ Pride Day, and NAIDOC week.

“As sponsor of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, I help ensure we live a culture of inclusion. We understand the value of equitable opportunities and we are proud of the 62% female gender balance at UCB Australia. We also draw from our global strengths to provide solutions for patients suffering from chronic inflammatory conditions, and have provided solutions for women of child-bearing age with chronic rheumatic diseases looking to start or expand their family.”

At UCB Australia, our goal is to close the gaps in current research, generating more information to empower women around the world living with chronic inflammatory diseases and epilepsy to make more informed health decisions.

Women with chronic inflammatory diseases encounter unique challenges and gender disparities. The ADVANTAGE HERS awareness campaign by UCB Australia aims to empower Australian women with chronic inflammatory diseases to be informed about their condition, address concerns related to family planning and pregnancy and help them become advocates for their own care.

The Raoul Wallenberg Australian Pregnancy Register has been running nationally for over 23 years to help support research on epilepsy in pregnancy. Through this register, information about pregnant women with epilepsy is observed and collected to help determine which anti-epileptic medicines are safest for baby, while protecting the mother from seizures. With continued funding from UCB Australia, information obtained from the Raoul Wallenberg Australian Pregnancy Register is helping to get closer to defining safer treatment options, impacting clinical practice for women with epilepsy in Australia and internationally.
